YoGo Bikeshare on Friday announced the four locations in downtown Youngstown where docking stations for its bike-share program will be installed.
The city’s Design Review Committee gave concept approval for the stations in June.
“We sought community feedback and have been working with the city and local businesses to install docking stations in the most optimal locations possible,” Ronnell Elkins, YoGo president, said in a news release.
The docking stations will be installed at the following four locations:
- Youngstown Flea, 365 E. Boardman St.
- CycWard Bike Shop, 1205 Elm St.
- Near Kress Lot, 111 W. Federal St.
- Corner of Champion Street and East Federal Street.
“My family and I have been working diligently on this project, and we are grateful to receive approval from the city to help us come a step closer to bringing this program to Youngstown,” Elkins said.
The bike-share program will begin operating in spring 2023 with 30 e-bikes, the release states. It will operate from 7:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily from spring to fall. The pricing structure encourages short trips, the release states, with prices ranging from $4 for 20 minutes up to $90 for an annual subscription.
HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS
In an informational video, which can be viewed below, the company breaks the program down into three phases: “Unlock,” “Ride” and “Return.”
Your Morning Matters
Sign up for our morning newsletter, where we break down the Valley’s must-read stories and why they matter.
You’ll be able to download the YoGo Bikeshare app on your cellphone to create an account and unlock a bike at one of the docking stations. There are three payment options: Casual Rider, Daily Rider and Annual Rider. More information about the options, including the pricing structure, is available here.
After the bike is unlocked, you can ride anywhere for 20 minutes (30 minutes for Annual Riders). If your ride goes over the allotted time, you’ll incur additional charges.
When your ride is over, you’ll return the bike to any of the docking stations.
